ok i cash and then what?!
« on: November 01, 2009, 09:07 »
Doc for the last couple of weeks ive been running like usain bolts dust. been going great make the cut and then collapse like a sack of spuds! im getting deep and either one of two things happens;

a) i dry up and blind out
b) i go at it and (lit. no lie everytime) i make a right call or push and get sucked out on! just at the point where i am more or less guaranteed final table.

what the hell do i have to do? or do i just ride the storm of the sucky luck?

The main question you should be able to answer after every tournament is:  Did I do all  I possible could to win the tournament?  if you answer yes to it then things will fall into place eventually.
You know some folk are focused on F'kn up other people blessings that they can't even catch they own.  I know alot of people like that.

Just a quick comment before I go to work. Remember this when playing MTT's. The game game doesnt start until after you've cashed. Think about this and I will get back to you later...........

the point of the game after cashing is to open up start firing with suited connectors and such you will cash alot by playing tag but then must open up or won't ever make it to the final tables.

you must maintain your stack, if you are a short stack you must keep your eye on the blind levels because 1 level you could shove and pick the blinds without trouble but as soon as they move up 1 level your stack could be so small that most people will call you.

I don't think its about opening up your game, but more about adjusting your hand requirements according to your stack size vs other stack sizes.

i tend to play more aggressive if i have a middle to big stack with my play being quiet before the bubble then i should get more respect when i do open up.

sometimes it will go wrong and you will make a mistake but it is better to go for the win than to sit back and watch the other good players do what you should have been doing

Wow, Ok,  here goes again...LOL.
I am new here,  an didn't get this kind of Interaction at my last Forum, So, Ty for sharing.
After reading this blog yesterday, i was so insatntly inspired, that it left me fizzin at the bit....thats a good thing btw...LOL. It all made sense an koda made an interesting blog, which i feel everyone probably faces this challenge at some point.
I would suggest koda re-look at his blog an then look at the bigger picture here.
a) i dry up an blind out.....check yr pulse mate,  cos you should never be in this position,  you got yourself this far doin what an how you know best,  was it a momentary lapse of reason...or....why did you take your foot off the gas peddle,  reasonable questions to ask yourself.
b) i go at it, make the right call or push.......  as you know, it only takes one bad decision an it's all over, rover.  an i'm not saying your making bad D's,  quite the contrary. ( it is funny tho, cos after eading this i found myself in exactly the same boat in the Aussie millions freeroll last night an missed the cut by 5, Thankfully i Zoomed in the next one an made the cut so now in RD2)
Ok, Big picture time koda.......ride the Storm out.....Yes.
However with poker being cyclic, i feel one has to alow a percentage of times that this will happen to you,  an a weary sly fox such as yourself ( dare i say that without knowing you ) will be looking to make sure the percentage factor on this is kept to a bare minimum.
The entirety of your blog screams one thing to me koda........Consistency ! ! !   an that is to say Consistently Good.  Now, if you were to replay each Tourny that your in, in your minds eye, you should be able to clearly see where things went wrong, an how perhaps you could have played it better. Maybe even shutting down pre bubble Final Table time...wait an be patient,  the more you look into this the more answers you should find.Sometimes, i find thinkin about the problems only confuses the mind, however to write them down is something far more reaching an easier to find the answers.
I hope i'm on the right track here, an please, if i am not, let me know.   I dont want to step on toes or annoy anyone, but i sure do wanna learn an help by providing insights.
