Poker Pod Championship Events
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:09 »
After talking to Jamie, and some thought, I am putting together a set of tournaments that will be official Pod “Championship” tournaments. These will happen once a year and with the different events being spread out over the year, with at least one and possibly more per month. The winners of these events will carry the title for one year.

These events will have a higher buy in than the home games to be somewhere between $5 to $10 with the exception of the upcoming Heads Up tourney that will remain at $3.30 . These tourneys will be a player rankings event and will be worth double bonus points.

I am looking for somewhere between 10-15 events. Please post a game/fomat you would like to see be included in these tournaments.

I think the idea of a Championship is great, but the way your going to do it is not even close to being fair to everyone.

First off your going to price a lot of people out of being able to play.

Second the tourneys are for the chance to be a Pod Champion, but you are also making them a ranked event and not only that your doubling the points.

So if you don't have a bankroll that is big enough or can't afford to play in these events you are pretty much screwed in the rankings.

I can understand you wanting them to be higher stakes and even think they should be, but anything over $5 I believe would be too much.

I don't think they should be a ranking event, but if they are they should in no way get double the points.

If you need to leave them the way you have them set up now so you can catch me then more power to ya

In reference to rankings issue, I dont see how incorperating these tournaments into the ranking system is in anyway unfair to anyone. .png[/img].png.png far as the weight of the bonus points, that might need to be brought down a bit. I'll get my abacus out and work some numbers. Off the top of my head based on 16 week quarter, somewhere around the 1.5 instead of 2 (rounded up) is about right. That would net the winner BP at 3.40 increase of 1.1 points. and the itm players 1.15 points increase of .37 points.

Reason for the increased bonus points?
a) these are championship events with higher buyins and should be bonus points should reflect that imo
b) the regular points system is still in play as is, no changes.
c) increased intrest caused by both event and rankings in play at once

Buy-Ins:

I do not want to see regular Podsters being shut out due to lack of a bank roll. At the same time, the higher buy-ins will increase level of play. So I am suggesting almost all of these events around the $5 level. The highest would be "TPP Main Event Championship" at $10. And a couple of tourneys between the $6-8 level.

In no way will missing even a couple of these will cause a player to be screwed. .png[/img] they are going to spread through out the year will have such weight  (1.5 weight = 4.5/16)
